Position Description
Position Summary:
Legal Assistants are responsible for maintaining, in tandem with the associate attorney, the teams docket, calendaring, and client/opposing counsel contacts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in settlement negotiations
- Collect all necessary documents for each client
- Develop and maintain relationships with each client
- Develop relationships with opposing counsel and support staff
- Ensure the execution of settlement agreements
- Draft various types of letters to both clients and opposing counsel
- Recognize, notate, and prepare for important deadlines
- Address post settlement issues as they arise
- Perform other duties as required and assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not required
- Previous experience in a law firm setting is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Superior analytic skills
- Ability to change tasks quickly
- Computer Proficiency
- Must pass credit and criminal background check
