TITLE OF POSITION: Senior Supply Chain Analyst
DEPARTMENT: Rice & Grains, Seafood
DIRECT REPORT: Global Sourcing Director
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time Regular Position - Exempt
LOCATION: Hybrid - Orinda Office and Remote

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The primary function of this position encompasses all purchasing and inventory management duties within the Rice & Grains and Seafood department, supporting sales in the Retail, Foodservice, and Club business units. This position requires a self-starter with strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills, robust knowledge of demand planning and supply chain management, and a familiarity with good warehousing practices.

The Senior Supply Chain Analyst has broad-ranging responsibilities within all aspects of Supply Chain operations and is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day supply chain business results are achieved through proper oversight and planning. This role combines a high level of data analysis and reporting along with hands-on application to ensure excellence in the overall performance of the Supply Chain operations. This person provides backup and support to key positions within the Supply Chain team. This position expedites deliveries of products for customers to meet demand requirements with equal enthusiasm, on an as-needed basis.

The Senior Supply Chain Analyst also provides leadership of the Shipping, Inventory, Planning & Purchasing teams whenever needed.

Essential Job Responsibilities include:

Inventory Management:

  • Determine optimal inventory levels at all warehouses for assigned commodities, maintaining stock to support sales demand while simultaneously controlling excess inventory.
  • Manage, analyze, and assess inventory levels to ensure continuity of supply, ordering against a monthly buy plan.
  • Coordinate shipments from vendors to support inventory goals and determine the best method of shipment.
  • Keep sales and customer service staff apprised of slow-moving and aging inventory with the goal of eliminating obsolescent items.
  • Transfer products between warehouses as necessary, to optimize inventory and logistics costs.
  • Prepare inventory reports and communicate with appropriate departmental staff, including distressed, obsolete, or excess inventory to reduce company financial exposure.
  • Review and analyze sales forecasts and check accuracy against sales history
  • Work closely with sales management and customer service regarding forecast accuracy.
  • Maintain open communication with product vendors to optimize support of sales goals.
  • Evaluate and assist in the selection of new vendors as needed.
Data Analysis:
  • Highly competent using and manipulating data in Microsoft Excel, including using Pivot Tables and lookup functions.
  • Strong attention to detail is paramount, ensuring data is accurate throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and document business requirements.
  • Monitor and update Demand Planning software, ensuring data is accurate and up to date.
Familiar with SQL queries to extract data and insights from various databases.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred or work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years inventory management experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel.
  • 2 years of experience with imported goods highly desired.
  • Experience in the food and/or grocery industry is extremely beneficial.
Working knowledge using ERP software (e.g., Microsoft NAV, BC), Demand Planning software (e.g., Slimstock), and SQL reporting is extremely beneficial.

Skills Required:
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with proficiency in functions such as pivot tables and lookup functions.
  • A proactive methodology to problem-solving, with excellent critical thinking and urgency.
  • Self-starter and problem solver, with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Possess excellent critical thinking skills and effective follow-through.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in work output.
  • Proven experience in supply chain, optimizing supply chain operations to increase efficiency.
  • A driven, proactive individual, which takes the initiative to learn and continually improve processes.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills to manage multiple competing projects under tight deadlines.
